boxing 101

Okay, so I promised directions on how to make those super cute boxes, so without further ado...

The Supply List
1. box with lid...you just don't need the lid. the one i used measured about 4 1/4 x 5 1/4. (got mine at the container store)

2. twp pieces of bookboard or heavy weight chipboard measuring 4 x 5 1/2 (just a hint: cut your base board about a 1/2" smaller on the long side)

3. one piece of light weight chipboard measuring 12/16 x 5 1/2. this will be your spine.

4. two pieces of linen bookcloth (you could use paper, but i find it be not as flexible) the piece to cover the outer spine measures 4 1/2 x 8 and the piece that covers the inner side of the spine measures 3 1/8 x 5.

5. two pieces of patterned paper measuring 4 1/2 x 8. this is to cover your top and bottom boards.

6. two pieces of additional paper (optional) one for the inside of the box (3 7/8 x 5) and one to cover the inner lid (3 3/4 x 5 1/8)

7. glue*, craft knife, ruler, pencil, cute gift for inside.

*I used gel medium on mine.

Here's the step by step.
**forgot to mention that when you center all your pieces on the bookcloth...you want there to be between 1/8" to 1/4" space between them.

Email me if you have any questions

Ciao for now:)
