mr. w

I could easily write about zombies, milk caps, the Housewives of Beverly Hills, but I'm gonna shake it up a bit and do something I don't normally do. I'm going to write about this guy.

The last several days have been crazy around here. Me scrambling to fill orders, (more on that later) being distracted, annoyed, and not very good company. He, in turn, has been amazing.

But that is nothing new. We've been together ten years and he has always been on my side.

He convinced me to leave a lucrative banking job that I HATED.
He encouraged me to follow my passion and become graphic designer.
He supported me while I did that.
He was so proud when I landed a job at a little boutique stationery store (that is now huge, no thanks to me). Even though it was retail and everyone said I was way overqualified.
Thanks to his encouragement I met some incredible people and realized that the term"overqualified" is relative and retail is not for the faint of heart. He taught me that kindness elevates you. Not just being kind to those we like or respect or we find worthy of our attention, but to EVERYONE. He despises entitlement and views it as the laziness of privilege. He's a man of few words, but his words pack a punch. He is incredibly confident, but has the goods to back it up. He is modest to a fault and doesn't care about any other opinion but mine. He doesn't subscribe to trends unless it suits him. He reads what he wants and listens to the sort of music that makes him happy. He's 40, but looks 30 except for his white whiskers. He has no problem saying I don't know. His knowledge is broad and varied. He loves science. He is an inventor at heart but a writer by trade.

He is a slim 5'7" bald guy....but don't dismiss him because he will make you laugh and I promise you will feel better for knowing him...

like i do
